A/B Testing FAQ
A/B Testing is the process of experimenting with different variables and comparing results to find the version of a marketing email which is the most likely to deliver the best results.
In an A/B test, multiple versions of the email are created, each with a different version of a single variable. Each version of the message is then sent to a portion of the subscriber list, and the results are compared.
Almost any element of an email campaign can be A/B tested. Some examples include subject lines, the day of the week or time of day the message is sent, and the name used in the “from” field of the message.
A/B tests can be used to optimize an email campaign for whatever your goals are: opens, clicks, or total revenue. By looking at which version of the message performs best in the A/B test, you can determine which version to send to your larger audience for the best results.
